George S. Martin ByramGeorge Smith Martin 80, died Monday, July 17, 2017 at Baptist Hospital. A service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland. Mr. Martin was born on June 23, 1937 in Philadelphia, MS, the son of the late Jody and Effie Martin. He worked as an over the road truck driver until retirement. Mr. Martin enjoyed fishing and playing dominos. An avid car enthusiast, Mr. Martin enjoyed restoring cars and watching NASCAR with his son. He was also an avid gun collector and tattoo enthusiast, having over 52 tattoos. A beloved father and devoted grandfather, he always referred to his granddaughter lovingly as "Myrtle." Along with his parents, Mr. Martin is preceded in death by his wife Velma and sister, Andean Clark. Survivors include: son, Ritchie Martin and wife Susan of Brandon; granddaughter, Hannah Martin of Brandon; grandson, Russell Thompson of Pearl; grandson, Justin Thompson of Florida and brother, Joe Martin of Crystal Springs, MS.
