On July 28, 2025, George Ellis Rose Jr (Gubba)., age 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by family in Detroit, Michigan.
Born on August 22,1950 in McGehee, AK. George was the beloved son of George Rose Sr. and Lillian Rose. He was the third of eight children.
George graduated from Desha High School in 1968 and attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Shortly after beginning college, he accepted a job with Ford Motor Company. Early during his career, George made the honorable decision to serve his country and entered the United States Marine Corps. After proudly serving, he continued with Ford Motor Company and had an overall successful career for 50 years. While at Ford and into his retirement, George was a member of the Local UAW.
George was one who had particular places he frequented and hobbies he truly loved. In years past, he was and avid bowler and involved with several bowling leagues. George never missed a day playing the lottery and enjoyed running a boston on his opponents during a fun and friendly game of Bid Whist. If you were his partner during those high energy card games and you messed up, George would surely let you know! In addition, George loved to play pool, keno and spending time with his family and friends.
George leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter with his five children: Denise Shields, Monekio Plummer, Tyrus Plummer, Ebony Rose-France (Maurice France), and Alexis Rose-Tomlinson (Dylan Tomlinson). He was also a proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren: Kelisha Shields, Shaun Shields, Saquetta Harvest-Ingram, Averi Plummer, Jayland Plummer, Jazmine Plummer, Jayda Udoroh, Brenan France, Brielle France, Jadah Brantley, Tyrus Plummer Jr., Braycen France and 22 great grandchildren.
George is also survived by his sisters Mae Helen (Woody) Hewing, Theola (Kilroy) Rose and Bobby Ann Richardson, as well as his ex-wife Linda Plummer-Rose.
George is preceded in death by his parents George and Lilian Rose, son Demond Ellis Rose, Bobby Don Rose (Brother), Cathy L Rose-Chapman (Sister), Terry Dwayne Rose (Brother), and Wilma Faye Rose (Sister).
Until the very end, George remained strong and brave. He my have lost his battle with pancreatic cancer, but during his life he won the hearts of many and his memory will live on with those who loved him forever. Rest in peace, George Ellis Rose Jr.
