Gene was and always will be remembered for his sense of humor and that smile that lit up countless rooms. Upon graduation Gene joined the United States Navy where he served as a Machinist Mate for four years. After leaving the Navy Gene moved to Ohio and attended college at Hobart. He was employed as a welder upon graduation and worked in that field until his passing. Gene is survived by his wife Nancy (Newhouse) who he married on February 5th 2006. Also survived by a Brother Carl (Rebecca) Smith of Danville, Indiana. A son and daughter-in-law Brian and Ciara Smith of Troy, Oh. Also two adopted  children Ian and Elizabeth Newhouse both of West Carrollton. Gene was an avid fan of the NFL and his beloved New York Giants. He will be loved missed and cherished by many.
