This obituary is administered by:
Schingen, Gayle E.Gayle E. Schingen, of Fond du Lac, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at home, with her family by her side. Gayle was born on June 29, 1932, to the late Lester and Nela (Brotmiller) Miller of Eldorado. She graduated from Goodrich High School and went on to work as a secretary before marrying her husband.Gayle married Conway "Barney" Schingen on January 10, 1952, at the parsonage of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Fond du Lac.She was member of St. Mark's Pilgrim Church in Fond du Lac.Gayle had a passion for cooking and baking. At Christmas time, there were at least 30 different kinds of cookies. Oysters were put in everything from stew, stuffing, and scallop corn. If someone didn't have a place to go, Gayle would invite them for a holiday meal. She made every holiday "over the top" with every detail completed to perfection. When her children were growing up, she was active in the school PTO, Girl Scouts, and Cub Scouts. Her children and grandchildren were the love of her life. She never missed a concert, a hockey game, a school event, baseball games, or anything the grandchildren were involved in. She enjoyed conversations about football and hunting with her sons. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, gardening, and reading. She quilted with a special group of women for many years. Now her family has those treasures forever. Gayle is survived by her four children: Joy (Glenn) Miller of Appleton, Lester (Nancy) Schingen of Fond du Lac, Jill (Gary) Hebard of Fond du Lac, and Jack (Debbie) Schingen of Fond du Lac; six grandchildren: Brad (Angie) Ruhnke of Neenah, Bob Schingen, Jason (Amy) Schingen, Josh Hebard, Paige Schingen, and Austin Schingen, all of Fond du Lac; and a great grandson, Gavin Schingen of Fond du Lac.Gayle was preceded in death by her husband Barney; her parents, Lester and Nela Miller; and many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. A private service for family will be held on November 20, 2016. Gayle will be laid to rest at the Rosendale Cemetery. The family wishes to thank some very special people who cared for Gayle. First of all, thanks to Carrie Henhouse and Kristy Herig of Agnesian Hospice and Home Care for their amazing care. Thanks also go to Dr. Whitmore and Wanda "the onion lady" for all their years of service in caring for our mother. The family extends a special "Thank You" to Joe Bastian and family for many years of being the best friends and neighbor to our parents."Remember me with smiles and laughter, for that is how I will remember you. No more suffering, no more tears. I am free."
