Gayle Dawn (Gladson) BattertonNovember 17, 1952 - October 8, 2016Gayle Dawn Batterton, 63, of Pocatello, Idaho passed away on October 8, 2016 after a short but valiant battle with cancer. Gayle was born on November 17, 1952 in Caldwell, Idaho to Kenneth and Maurine Gladson. When Gayle was three the family moved to Pocatello where she attended school and eventually graduated from Highland High School in 1971. She remained close to many of her high school friends thought out her life. After high school Gayle attended ISU in 1971 and 1972. She enlisted in the Air Force in 1972 as a medical material specialist and served on the Grecian Island of Crete and later in England at Lakenheath Air Force Base.Upon her honorable discharge from the Air Force Gayle returned to Pocatello and received an Associate's Degree in nursing and become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked in the medical community in Pocatello for many years. In 1988 Gayle met the love of her life, Rick Batterton, and they were married in 1990 in San Diego, California. They honeymooned in Italy and returned for a short time to Pocatello, then to Spokane, Washington and San Diego. In 1992, Gayle and Rick were blessed with their only child Scott and he became the center of Gayle's universe. Gayle was an avid antiquer and knew the value of a great deal. She also loved to travel and spent many family vacations traveling in their various camp trailers. Gayle was preceded in death by her husband Rick, her father Kenneth Gladson, and her mother-in-law Barbara Batterton. She is survived by her son Scott (Mallory) Batterton; mother Maurine Gladson; Brother Scott (Sherry) Gladson; Father-in-law Bob Batterton; Brothers-in-law Rob (Yvonne) Batterton and Rand (Susan) Batterton; Step-sisters Kathy (David) John and Janet (Burt) John; and numerous nieces and nephews.Gayle was beloved by her friends and family and brought joy to anyone who knew her. We will miss her more than words can say. Love you Mom!
