Gary L. Kieffer78, of Indianapolis, passed away at The Hearth at Stones Crossing in Greenwood on Wednesday morning, October 4, 2017. Gary was born on September 17, 1939 in Indianapolis, IN to Leonard S. Kieffer and Opal V. (Merritt) Kieffer. He was a 1957 graduate of Cathedral High School, attended Marion College and served his country in the US National Guard. On October 3, 1959, he married the love of his life, Sue Willis Kieffer, who survives. Gary worked for over 33 years in sales at Buyers Paper and owned and operated a couple Amoco stations from 1992 until retirement in 1999. Gary and Sue had a second home in Surprise, AZ where he enjoyed retirement and playing golf as often as possible. In his younger years, he was an avid fitness enthusiast and could often be found running and biking in his spare time.Survivors include his wife of 58 years, L. Sue Kieffer of Indianapolis, one son, Kevin Kieffer (Kathryn) of Tampa, FL; one daughter, Kelly Kieffer of Indianapolis; and one sister Carol Jackson of Louisville, KY.Visitation will be held on Monday evening, October 9, from 4:00 until 8:00 pm at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Stirling-Gerber Chapel, 5950 E. Thompson Rd, Indianapolis. A rosary service will start at 7:30pm. A funeral mass will be held at Nativity Catholic Church, 7225 Southeastern Ave., Indianapolis on Tuesday, October 10 at 11:00 am.
