This obituary is administered by:
Haney, Gary AlanGary Alan Haney, 66, Greenleaf, died peacefully at home on Friday, May 12, 2017 surrounded by his wife, sons and family. He was born on May 11, 1951 in Battle Creek, Michigan, son of Melvin Haney and Jeanne (Curry) McClintic. Gary was proud to serve his country with the U.S. Marine Corps. He never failed to greet fellow marines with "Semper Fi." On October 8th, 1971, Gary married Julie Sherlock at St. Agnes Church. He worked for many years as an Event Supervisor at the Brown County Arena and Expo Center, where he made many lasting friendships. He enjoyed many hobbies, his work with the Local 470 Stagehands, and adventures with his best friend Lee Larson. His biggest joy was his love of family and spending time with his sons and grandchildren. Gary had a special relationship with his niece, Stacie Girling, who gave him the gift of life with a living kidney donation. Gary endured many health trials in the last 15 years, but through it all he maintained his big heart, awesome sense of humor, and a quiet strength from his Catholic faith. Gary is survived by his wife of 45 years, Julie; sons, Matthew Haney (Kristie Berger) and their son, McKian; Andrew Haney (Caitlyn Klosterman) and their children, Chase and Fallon; seven sisters, MaryAnn, Linda, Marlene, Kathy, Stephanie, Helga and Steena; three brothers, Herb, Fred, and Frank; his stepfather, Pappy McClintic; and many nieces and nephews. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Jeanne, his siblings, Riley, Ronald, and Larry; and his stepmother, Serena Haney. Friends may call at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4805, Sportsman Drive in Ledgeview, from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 17. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 17 at the church with Rev. Richard Getchel officiating. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family. The Haney family would like to thank the doctors at Aurora and especially all the many CNA's and nurses who provided exceptional care at the clinics, hospital and rehab at Odd Fellows Nursing Center.
