Francis Xavier F.X GilbertRedding, CAFrancis Xavier Gilbert, better known as FX, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 24, 2016 at the age of 80. FX was survived by his significant other, Mary Schulte, his two children, Vanessa Bucheli and Andrew Gilbert, his sister, Claire Tona, and many nieces, nephews, and friends who adored him. He was born on December 3, 1936 to Joseph and Marie Gilbert. FX served in the Air Force and continued to work on aircraft instruments for the B-1 Bomber and Learjet. He ended his working days as a ranch hand in Arizona before retiring in Redding. He had his pilot license and enjoyed flying, hunting, fishing and mining for gold. He had a strong love for the outdoors and aircrafts. He enjoyed singing in the choir at St. Joseph's Parish and was a member of St. Vincent de Paul. His great sense of humor, laugh and that smile will be missed greatly.His service will be held at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 2040 Walnut Ave., Redding, CA on January 14, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with a reception to follow at the church hall. There will be a military honors service provided at a later time at the Northern California Veterans Cemetery. More details regarding date and time to be announced.
