Porter, Francis E. 'Gene',Francis E. 'Gene' Porter, 87, of Louisville, KY, formerly of Odon, IN, passed away surrounded by his loved ones, on Tues., Nov. 7, 2017 at his residence. He was born on Feb. 3, 1930 in Burns City, IN to Fay and Myrtle (Sipes) Porter. He married his loving wife, Wilma 'Tootsie' (Gaslin) Porter, on Aug. 22, 2009.Gene was a US Air Force Veteran and a member of the Hikes Point Christian Church of Louisville. He worked as an insurance claims agent until he retired on Dec. 31, 1991. Gene is survived by his wife, Wilma 'Tootsie' Porter of Louisville and a brother, Dean (Sue) Porter of Odon. Gene was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Gerald Porter; daughter, Pamela Porter; brothers, Fred and Warren Porter; sisters, Betty Aishe and infant Bonnie Bell Porter. A memorial service is scheduled for 10AM on Sat., Nov. 11, 2017 at Meng Family Funeral Home in Odon with Jeff Wallace officiating. Gene will be laid to rest in Sugarland Memory Gardens in Washington following military graveside rites. Family and friends may call from 4-8PM on Fri., Nov. 10 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions to be made to White Mills Christian Camp in KY or Camp Illiana in IN. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
