Roberts, Frances LorraineFrances Lorraine Roberts, 96, formerly of Sidney and Afton, NY, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Iroquois Nursing Home. She was born on September 11, 1920, the oldest of 10 children of Cecil and Effie (Hadsell) Cook in Cobleskill, NY. On January 1, 1943, she was married to Joseph E. Roberts in Walton, NY. He predeceased her on April 8, 1963. After raising her four daughters, she went back to work and retired from Keith Clark Co. in Sidney. Frances was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and knitting. Her favorite thing, however, was spending time with her family. Frances is survived by: two daughters, Roberta and Charles Curley of Clayton, NC and Susan and Ed Backus of Jamesville; sister, Carol Johnson of Sidney, as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two daughters, Linda Brenneis and Judith Roberts, granddaughter, Jennifer Brenneis and eight brothers and sisters.Friends may call from 1:00-2:00pm on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main St. Sidney, NY 13838. Funeral services will begin at 2:00pm at the funeral chapel. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Sidney. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
