Fermin Alvarado RuizVentura, CAFermin Alvarado Ruiz passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 16th 2016. Fermin was born on July 7, 1936 in Ray Arizona to parents Fermin Perez Ruiz and Maria Alvarado. The family moved out of Arizona in 1943, finally settling in Santa Paula California.Fermin met the love of his life, Marie Lovio Ruiz, in 1953 in Santa Paula California. They married on November 19th, 1955, and were married 61 years at the time of his passing. Together they raised six children, four daughters and two sons.Dad was a very hard worker, who always prided himself on being a great provider for his family, whom he loved dearly. He worked in Asphalt a majority of his work life and was a member of the Laborers International Union of North America (Local 585) for over 50 years, having retired from construction in 1983. He then worked for the Cities of Simi Valley and Camarillo.Dad especially enjoyed working in his yard, always having the nicest place on the block, front and back. He took pride in his yard work skills and was none too pleased with anyone on the block that did not follow suite. He also enjoyed barbequing, watching western movies, going for long drives (usually to a casino with Marie), and watching sports (particularly football and basketball). He was a family man, and always made time for his children growing up, taking them on trips every year to places like Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe. He was an excellent artist his entire life and enjoyed putting huge jigsaw puzzles together. Fermin was well known and loved by so many, young and old, throughout Ventura, Saticoy and Santa Paula.
