He quit school at the age of 12, after the death of his father, to help support his mother and siblings. The family then moved to Gonzalez, TX, where he later enlisted and served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II, with tours in South Africa and Germany. In 1952, he received honorable discharge at the rank of Sergeant, earning several medals including: Efficiency Honor Fidelity, World War II, European African Middle Eastern Campaign, American Campaign and Army of Germany Occupation. In 1955, Felix returned to Gonzalez where he later married the love of his life, Maria (Mary) Rosales. Shortly after marriage, Felix and Mary moved to Indio, CA, Chicago, IL, Houston, TX in search of work. Felix and Mary finally settled in Harlingen, TX, where Felix worked for Rainbow Bread Co. and Southwestern Motors Transport. Felix also worked with Hicks Oil, where he retired in 1982. Felix was a devout Catholic and was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Harlingen, TX. In 2015, he and Mary became members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church after moving to Edinburg, TX. Felix put God first and family second; everything else fell in line after that. He was never embarrassed to share his beliefs with anyone he met, even if it meant he would be mocked for it. Felix always reminded those he spoke with that "tomorrow is promised to no one" by encouraging them to say "Godwilling" as they left his presence. Our grandfather will always be remembered for his strong faith and being a "fisher of men" for God. Save us a place at our Lord's table Grandpa...we'll see you soon, si Dios quiere.Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 13, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Peace at Ceballos-Diaz Funeral Home, 322 East Kuhn Street in Edinburg, TX.
