Acts 24:15

Evelyn Diane Glover was born in Los Angeles California on 2/4/49 to Andrew & Charlene Williams, she is the 3rd eldest of 6 children. When Evelyn who the family called “Diane” was 8 years old her parents became Jehovah’s Witnesses and began studying the Bible with the children.

In 1958 when Evelyn was 9 years old the family moved away from city life to the rural area of Perris California and her father started a small farm. Evelyn and her siblings learned how to hunt, feed & milk the cows, churn butter & make homemade ice cream along with handling the chickens from the egg to the table (details omitted). Evelyn herself had traits of a mother hen, she related times that she would often run as fast as she could in the billowing dust to scoop her baby brother Andre from the ground to save him from a spanking for eating dirt.

Music was often played in the home and her father would whistle melodic tunes, her mother would beautifully harmonize and the children would join in song and dance.

Evelyn married young and in 1965 became mother to her oldest son Ray Jr aka June and a year later gave birth to her daughter Stephanie Ann. Evelyn was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1967 and not long afterwards her marriage ended. To support herself and children she worked nights as a Nursing Assistant in a hospital. One quiet evening during her shift, Evelyn was singing and a co-worker who overheard in passing stopped suddenly and said, “was that you singing?... you have to call my cousin; they need a lead vocalist in the band”. The band audition resulted in a successful singing career with much travel and notoriety including her own show in Anchorage Alaska. Sadly, Evelyn put practicing her faith on the back burner.

Some years later, Evelyn related that suddenly during a performance on the Queen Mary the crowd appeared to cheer in slow motion and all she could think of was, “I have got to return to Jehovah”! The following day her manager, Edward Glover presented her with an offer to open for the well known R&B group The Jackson 5. Evelyn turned the offer down and began serving her God with a vengeance.

Evelyn and Edward Glover were married on January 15, 1975 and lovingly cared for June and Stephanie while sharing parenting time with their biological father Ray Williams Sr. and his wife Kathryn. In 1985 Evelyn and Ed became proud parents to Aaron Edward Glover and 4 months later grandparents to Stephanie’s newborn Erick Tremane. Evelyn and Stephanie enjoyed too much fun to recount while their boys were toddlers and were often asked if they were twins.

Evelyn enjoyed attending Kingdom Hall meetings regularly, she was a member of Riverside Arlington and later Moreno Vista Congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Teaching the truths found in God’s word was Evelyn’s passion. She would recount Biblical events with heart reaching detail while relaying the Bible’s promises for a wonderful future with such imagination that the hearer could feel the gentle breeze of paradise and taste the food. Evelyn would say her home in the paradise is waiting and she just needed to get there to water her flowers.

Evelyn assisted many bible students with making a personal dedication to Jehovah including all 3 of her children and her husband Edward, an unbeliever for the first 30 years of their marriage.

In 2010 she was overjoyed to begin her career as a Regular Pioneer, devoting 70 hours a month to the preaching and teaching work. Evelyn never gave up on inactive or non-witness family members. Joyce Williams, Evelyn’s younger sister thanked her often for the many upbuilding conversations resulting in her being reactivated as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Over many years, Evelyn also spiritually nurtured and studied the Bible with her sister Sandra Wheeler, her niece Marguerite & nephew Corey.

In 2014 at the age of 65, Evelyn was diagnosed with Frontal Temporal Dementia. Her close relationship with her God Jehovah provided a sterling example of faith and hope as she gracefully endured each day that followed.

On 12/7/21, Evelyn lost her battle with dementia BUT not before Sandra was able to whisper into her ear, “guess what sister this weekend, I’m getting baptized”!

Evelyn is survived by: Children: Stephanie (Joe) Harbuz & Aaron (Sara) Glover. Siblings: Sandra (Paul) Wheeler & Joyce Williams. Nephew: Corey Butler. Nieces: Marguerite Wheeler-Lara & Alexandria & Sierra Williams as well as great nieces & nephews and a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
