Eugene Niemi, age 68, of Nolalu, ON passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Thunder Bay Regional hospital with his wife by his side.Eugene was born on August 14, 1948 in Port Arthur, ON to Rita and Paul Niemi. He was the second of four kids. He grew up in Nolalu with his grandparents, where he lived for most of his life. He was a bush-worker in his youth then a small-motor mechanic at Noro Saw Shop for many years.Eugene met his wife Sigrid in 1975 and they married on November 20, 1977. Eugene became a loving father to Sigrid's four children and they then had two more children together.Eugene is predeceased by his parents, and his daughter Arlene. He is survived by his wife Sigrid, daughters Susan Chiasson (Roger), Karen McDonald (Bryan), Lorri-Ann Gillies (Abe), sons David (Cathy) and Randy (Meghan). Grandchildren Kaitlyn, Mikayla, Alyssa, Jordan, Faith, Jamey, Evan, Kylena, Chael, Tristian, and Crystal. His brothers Ivan (Pat) and Wayne (Louise) and sister LeeAnne (Bill).In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Thunder Bay Regional Hospital.In lieu of a service a private family memorial will take place. Arrangements have been entrusted to Simpler Times Cremation Centre, 332 North May Street, Thunder Bay.
