Kaufman, EugeneEugene H. Kaufman, 86, of Fond du Lac went to his heavenly home on Friday, March 3, 2017at Manorcare in Fond du Lac. He was born on December 30, 1930 at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac, the son of Harold C. and Esther (Heberlein) Kaufman. Gene served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from November 1951 to September 1953. On June 13, 1959, he married Marjorie J. Thone at St. Mary's Church in Fond du Lac. Gene worked for General Telephone which became Verizon for 42 plus years. He was a member of Holy Family Parish. When Gene retired, he volunteered at the Salvation Army, Loaves and Fishes and Broken Bread. He also ushered for many years first at St. Mary's Church and later at Sacred Heart.Survivors include his wife Marjorie, his son Steven E. Kaufman, his grandsons Aidan and Bryce Kaufman, his sister Carol (James) Mayr, his sister-in-law Audrey (Donald) Nevala, other relatives and friends.Eugene was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Esther, his son John Harold Kaufman, his in-laws Harold and Alma Thone, his brother David (Roberta) Kaufman and his sister-in-law Shirley Thone.A Liturgy of the Word will be held on Tuesday, March 7th at 11:00 AM at the Twohig Funeral Home, 305 Fond du Lac Ave., Fond du Lac. Inurnment will be at a later date in Calvary Cemetery, Fond du Lac.Visitation will be Tuesday, March 7th from 9:30 AM until time of services at the funeral home.
