Eugene F. HealyPoughkeepsie - Eugene F. Healy, age 82, of Poughkeepsie, died surrounded by his family on Friday, February 3,2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Gene was born on May 16,1934 in Poughkeepsie. He is the son of the late Fred and Leona (Houston) Healy. On October 7, 1956 he married the love of his life, Amelia P. Kazolias at the Kimissis Greek Orthodox Church. She predeceased him on February 20,2001.He proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Gene was an operating engineer with the International Union of Operating Engineers local 137 for over 40 years. He was a lifetime member of the Arlington Engine Company #1, Poughkeepsie Elks BPOE 275, and the American Legion post 1302. He enjoyed spending time with his friends at the Elks, Legion and "the grill". He was always willing to have a drink and share a story with his many friends. He was a Golden Gloves boxer where he was given the name "Kid Healy". Gene enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and spending time with his family. His children and grandchildren meant the world to him. He bowled with Millie on the Poughkeepsie Elks Sunday league and coached her softball team. He is survived by his three children, Michael Healy and his fiance Miriam of Hawaii, Paula Bedell and her husband Brian of poughkeepsie, and Ginalea Healy and her fiance Christopher Mastreani of Lagrangeville, his seven grandchildren, Bo and Mykel Zimmerman, Gianna, Arianna, Roberto Jr. and Amelio Milanese, Lucas Healy and great grandchildren Robert, Bradley Mae and Donato, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Leonard and Fred Healy. Calling hours will be Tuesday, February 7, 2017 from 4pm to 8pm at Timothy P.
