He married Pearline Chapman in 52 and they lived together in Ferris, Texas. Together they raised 3 children Burna Chapman, Gregory Gowans, Gary Gowans. Eugene graduated from Wilmer Hutchins High School. Eugene served his country for 10 years in the Army.
