Mr. Eugene Carl Fetherbay, age 78, formerly of Overton, Pa., passed away peacefully late Sunday evening, Oct. 30, 2016 at the Dar-Way Care Center, Estella, Pa. Gene was born on Jan. 24, 1938 at home in Forks Township, Sullivan County, Pa., the son of the late Leon Carl and Frances Marie Hottenstein Fetherbay. He attended Loyalsock High School, Estella, Pa. He married the former Saundera Lee Bailey on Sept. 17, 1963 and she predeceased him two days before their 50th wedding anniversary, on Sept. 15, 2013. In his early years, he worked at local saw mills and then went on to work for PennDOT. He retired from Penn DOT after 27 years of service. He really enjoyed hunting.Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law Jane and Gerald McDonald of Overton, Pa.; aunt, Alice G. Lynn of Lynnfield, Mass.; two nephews, Timothy (Amy) McDonald of New Albany, Pa., and Christopher (Sheila) McDonald of Towanda, Pa.; two brothers-in-law, Sherill LaRue "Butch" Bailey of Tunkhannock, Pa., and Phil Lewis of Wysox, Pa.; three sisters-in-law, Shirlee (Calvin) Bird of New Albany, Pa., Sharon (Donnie) Haines of Picture Rocks, Pa., and Lorraine "Tootie" Bailey of New Albany, Pa. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 4, 2016 at the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, Pa., with the Rev. Gregory Cole officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery, Overton, Pa.Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the start of the service Friday morning at the funeral home.
