OLSZEWSKIElsie Jane Elsie Jane Olszewski, 87, formerly of Toledo's Historic Polish Village, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016, at , Toledo. She was born on April 3, 1929, in Toledo, Ohio to Peter and Lottie (Przyborowski) Olszewski. Elsie was a graduate of Woodward High School and a lifelong parishioner of St. Adalbert Catholic Church. She was employed as an office manager for Metropolitan Life from September, 1947 to June, 1981, and as a cashier at Mercy Hospital for 10 years, 11 months and 45 days, retiring from there in May, 1992 at age 65. Proud of her Polish heritage, she loved to polka and attend Polish festivals. She also enjoyed trips throughout Europe and much of the U.S. with her friends and fellow independent women travelers. Elsie is survived by her sister, Helen Lis; nephews, Very Rev. David Lis and Dennis Lis; first cousin, Gloria Staszak; and second and third cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Casimer and Daniel Olszewski.Visitation will be Tuesday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Sujkowski Funeral Home Northpointe, 114 E. Alexis Rd., with a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will begin with prayers at the funeral home on Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. and continue with the Funeral Mass in St. Adalbert Church at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.Memorial donations may be given to St. Adalbert Catholic Church.
