Eloy N Martinez, 69, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away Friday November 18th, 2016. After courageously fighting a battle with cancer for 8 years. He died peacefully in his home surrounded by his girls, who were his pride and joy. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, November 23rd, at 9:00am at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Married to Betty L Martinez for 44 years. Eloy Served in the United States Navy, stationed USS ALAMO (LSD-33) He toured in Vietnam fighting Bravely, Receiving a National Defense Service medal, A Vietnam Service medal with three bronze stars, A Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with device (60- ), A Navy Achievement Medal with Combat "V" for service with River Assault Squadron 13 awarded August of 69. Eloy was passionate about Music, Especially The Beatles. He was a musician who played the guitar and harmonica. He was also a beautiful singer. Many remember Eloy for his incredible sense of humor. He is preceded in Death by his Mother, Maria Navarro. His Aunt Matilda Martinez, that raised him. Mother in Law, Gloria Ramirez. Sister in Law, Anita Hernandez. Niece, Hazel Hernandez. Brother, Carlos (Moy) Martinez. Pets, Falcor, Shadow and Ginger. Survived by his wife, Betty L Martinez of Carlsbad, NM. Grandchildren: Chelsea L White and Husband, Braxton White of Artesia, NM. Quinton R Dorris of Carlsbad, NM. Great grandchildren: Zoey Madalynn and Daniel Urijah White of Artesia, NM.
