Ellen Gibson, aged 84, passed away on June 22, 2023, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, United States. She was born on January 18, 1939, to the late James and Katherine Thompson.
Ellen was a dedicated wife to her husband, Richard Gibson, for over 60 years until he passed away in 2019. Together they raised three children, Mark Gibson, Kristin Gibson, and Lisa Moran, all of whom survive her. Ellen's grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Ellen was a devoted Christian and regularly attended the First Baptist Church in Fayetteville. She volunteered at the church, and her efforts were recognized when she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award for her service. Ellen obtained her bachelor's degree in education from the University of North Carolina and went on to teach for over 30 years. She was known for her patience, kindness and her ability to bring out the best in her students. Her dedication to education was exceptional, and she was an inspiration to many.
Ellen was an avid gardener and always had a beautiful flower garden outside of her home. She enjoyed spending time with her friends, frequently organizing book clubs, and attending social gatherings. She also loved to travel, and she and Richard visited nearly every state in the United States during their retirement years.
The loss of Ellen Gibson will be felt by many, but her legacy will live on through her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. Her selflessness, her compassion, and her unwavering faith in the Lord will always be an inspiration to those lucky enough to have known her. May she rest in peace.
