We are gathered here today to say goodbye to Elizabeth Smith, also known as Liz, who passed away on May 7, 2024, in Gary, Indiana. She was born on June 18, 1976, to Ernest L. Gatewood and Beatrice Smith.
Elizabeth leaves behind her partner Edward Otis Lucas Jr. and their three children: Edward Otis Lucas III, Malik Smith, and Briana Lucas. Despite her busy schedule as a mother, Elizabeth managed to graduate from William Penn High School in 1994 and continued her studies at Job Corps.
Elizabeth was a dedicated worker at the school, always making sure everything was in order. She had a great sense of humor and could light up any room with her infectious laugh.
Although Elizabeth may be gone, her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Rest in peace, Liz.
