Eleanor M. Ver LeeBattle CreekEleanor M. Ver Lee, age 90, of Battle Creek passed away on September 21, 2017.  She was born on August 12, 1927, in Grand Rapids, the daughter of John B.P. and Fannie (Lamberts) Tromp.  Eleanor graduated in 1951 from Mercy School of Nursing in Grand Rapids.  She received her Bachelors and Maters Degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in New York.  Eleanor worked at various nursing positions including the Veterans Administration where she retired from after eighteen years of service.  She served as Director of the Michigan Nurses Association for thirteen years.  Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband; Richard Ver Lee, sisters; Roberta J. VanderList, Francis Jean McCluskey, Coral LeLoux Visser, brothers; Woodrow J. Tromp and Jack L. Tromp.  She is survived by her sister; Marian Word of Grand Rapids.  Also surviving are Richard's children; Richard Ver Lee II of Phoenix, Arizona, daughter; Joy Orenbaun of Pennsylvania, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many special nieces and nephews.  Friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at the Richard A. Henry Funeral Home & Cremation Services.  Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Lakeview Baptist Church, Rev.
