Dullas, Eleanor After a brief battle with cancer, Eleanor Patricia Dullas passed away with her daughter by her side in the early morning hours of Wednesday, January 18, 2017, She was 80. She leaves behind 2 children, her daughter, Becky, daughter Roxana Nichols and son-in-law, Steve Nichols. Eleanor was born on August 25, 1936 in Prescott, AZ, to Nemesio and Annie Leyva. She also lived in Oakland and Los Angeles, CA as a child. She was outgoing and friendly and easily made friends wherever she went. She graduated from Prescott High School in 1954. After graduation she worked as a car hop at the A&W Root Beer Stand in Prescott. She graduated from Lamson Business College in Phoenix. She worked in the advertising department for KRIZ radio before being hired by the Social Security Administration. She retired from the SSA after 31 years. Eleanor was married to Pete George Dullas for 50 years. The couple lived in Phoenix and raised their two daughters. Upon retiring, Eleanor volunteered at the Crisis Nursery for Abused Children, the Arizona Historical Society, The Herberger Theater, the Arizona Theater Company, St. Gregory's Church, and PBS 8's pledge drives. She served on the Board of Director's of the Area Agency on Aging, the and served as President and District Vice President for the National Active and Retired Federal Employees. She served with the Governor's Advisory Council on Aging; the "Silver Haired Legislature" that lobbied for Arizona seniors at the state Capitol; and the Maricopa County Senior Citizen's Council. She was also a board member at DUET Partners in Health and Aging. Eleanor started a chapter of fellow employees called "The Social Security Alumni Association" and organized a group of friends called "The Birthday Group". She was a proud member of the First Families of Arizona and a member of "Past Finders" of Arizona. She attended the Phoenix Citizens Police Academy and the FBI Citizens Academy. Eleanor loved music, dancing, reading and traveling. She also loved babies, little children and ladybugs. She was loving, generous and fun. Eleanor is survived by her two daughters, brother John Leyva, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; older sister Rosalie Manuel and baby sister Mary Elizabeth. Eleanor's viewing will take place between 8:00AM and 10:00AM with services starting at 10:00 AM at A.L. Moore-Grimshaw Bethany Chapel 710 W. Bethany Home Road Phoenix AZ 85013. She will be interred alongside her husband at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona 23029 N. Cave Creek Road Phoenix, AZ. Donations can be made in her name to The Ryan House Hospice and .
