Turner, Elaine S.April 29, 1935 - Jan 26, 2017Elaine S. Turner of Sarasota died on January 26. She was born on April 29, 1935 in the White Oak Community of Washington County, Florida. The daughter of John Austin Syfrett and Ida Hovey, she was a fourth generation Floridian and the twelfth of thirteen children. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, John Miller Turner, to whom she will always be married, her daughter Jennifer Turner Gans, Esq., of Sarasota, her son David E. Turner, DMD, of Gainesville, and grandchildren Mason F. Turner, Sienna J. Turner and Caroline G. Gans. Mrs. Turner was a fierce defender of her family and those she loved, an enemy of injustice and intolerance, and an earnest student of life and the human condition. She saw beauty where other eyes could not perceive it, and witnessed the good in everyone she met. Her generosity, passion, and ability to see a divine hand in life on earth inspired her family profoundly, and led them to strive to be the best they were capable of. She transformed the lives of those she loved, and is deeply missed. "Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God." Matthew 5:8.
