Elaine B. Kozlovsky Obituary

Jan 03, 1939 - Aug 16, 2017

This obituary is administered by:
Kozlovsky, Elaine B.Elaine Kozlovsky passed away on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 surrounded by her caregivers and friends. She was born on January 3, 1939 to Edward and Mary (Witt) Kozlovsky. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her best friend, Jean Schneider. She was born and raised in Denmark, Wisconsin and in childhood was a member of the Melnik Presbyterian Church. She moved to De Pere in 1984, living with Joan and Andy Reis. She quickly became a regular feature on the East side of De Pere, walking everywhere, usually in her high heels. She loved walking to Shopko for candy bars and to Williams Jewelry to look at the beautiful displays. Each week she trekked across the De Pere bridge to have her hair styled at Classic Dimensions Salon, always carrying her purse which contained at minimum one or two candy bars. People throughout De Pere treated Elaine with respect and if she ran short of money while making purchases, it was simply reported to her guardian who them made amends, usually nickel and dimes. After Joan could no longer care for her, Elaine moved to Hampton Manor in Howard where she spent many years. Again, she was well cared for and enjoyed playing bingo at the big dining room table. Finally, she moved to Hannah 1 on the west side of Green Bay. The facility director, Shirley Smith and her staff took amazing care of Elaine, always treating her with love, respect, dignity, and a sense of humor. Shirley and her staff will always be appreciated. Elaine was a long-time member of First United Presbyterian Church in De Pere. Upon first joining, she walked to every Sunday service. She was a regular feature each week in the same seat and the same pew and then afterwards in the Family Life Center for coffee and treats. A huge thank you goes to Elaine's friends among the Deacons, especially Annette Kinchen, Cindy Finesilver, Julie Mackey, and Kathy Thorpe. Thank you also to Pastor Luke Farwell for visits to the Hannah Street Home and to Saint Mary's Hospital.Much gratitude also goes to Aspiro where she was a regular fixture for over 30 years. Aspiro provided attentive care to Elaine meeting her changing needs and always maintaining salutary contact with Elaine's care provider and her guardian. Finally, the staff members at St. Mary's Hospital and Unity Hospice were all wonderful. Their understanding and solicitude for both Elaine and her friends cannot be overstated. Elaine will be sorely missed by all her friends and caregivers, most especially by Diane, her guardian, friend, sister, and mother for the last 30 years.Friends may gather from 3:30 until 4:30 on Monday, August 21, 2017 at First United Presbyterian Church, 605 N. Webster, De Pere. A funeral service will follow at 4:30 at the church with Rev. Luke Farwell officiating and Corday Goddard assisting. Interment in Melnik Presbyterian Cemetery. Cotter Funeral Home and Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be sent to www.cotterfuneralhome.com.
