MARION, ILL. - Edwin J Hetzel, formerly of Racine, died July 31, 2012 at home in Marion, IL. Edwin was born on October 12, 1940 to Kenneth D Hetzel and Agnes Babe. He was united in marriage to Dianne (Hunter) Hetzel on October 7, 1966. He graduated from Horlick High 1958. Edwin was on Raymond Volunteer Fire Dept. for many years. He last worked at General Dynamics in Marion, Ill. retiring in 2004. He is survived by his wife, Dianne (Hunter) Hetzel; son, Kenneth W Hetzel, Byron, Ill.; daughter, Lisa M Hetzel (Roy Garland), Rockford, Ill.; sisters-in-laws, Donna (Bob) Helding, Darlene (Mark) Bauer, Doreen Osgood, Dorothy Hughes; brother-in-laws, William, Robert, Donald, John (Joan) Hunter; Nieces and Nephews too numerous to mention. In addition tohis parents, Edwin was preceded in death by his brother, Russell (Joan Holewinski) Hetzel, Joan still survives. Not only did Edwin show bravery by serving in the US Airforce, he displayed the ultimate act of courage when he passed away by donating his vital organs to others in need. As per his wishes, after the donation procedure is complete, his body will be cremated and no services will be held.
