Edwin J. Carpenter, Jr., Esq., age 87, of Corning, New York died Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Edwin was born on August 26, 1929 in Corning to Edwin and Gladys (Dollar) Carpenter, Sr. He married Carolyn Garey on August 20, 1963 in Penn Yan. Edwin served his country in the United States Air Force.Edwin was a local attorney and had his offices on Pine Street for many years.He is survived by his wife Carol; daughter, Carolyn "Bitsie" Carpenter of Denver, CO; son, Edwin "Ned" Carpenter, III of Corning; brother, Robert (Marly) Carpenter of Lusby, MD; several nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, November 13th from noon until 2 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street in Corning where funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM with Deacon Ray Defendorf officiating.
