On December 16,2023 Edward Neil Simmons Jr, departed this world at the age of 57. He was born on July 26, 1966, in Jacksonville , North Carolina . He is the son of late Edward Neil Simmons, Sr and Doretha Wilson. He was the oldest of five children. Edward accepted the Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He attended Dunbar Elementary School , Parks Middle School , and Smith High School in Atlanta, Ga. He lived a life filled with passion, purpose, and unwavering determination. A true embodiment of resilience, he faced life's challenges head-on, inspiring all who crossed his path. He leaves to cherish his loving memory , mother Doretha Wilson; four sons , Edward Simmons III ,Andrew Gay, Antoine Gay , and Michael Simmons; nine daughters, Viola Simmons , Cortney Clayton, Kanesha Grace ,Sequandra Dantzler, Cassandra Clayton, Areesha Grace, Taylor Simmons, Shaina Gay Kitchen, and Shamona Horne; three brothers, Reginald Simmons ,Andre Gay, and the late Robert Earl Wilson; two sisters , Bernice Simmons and Merteen Wilson; 11 grandchildren; and a host of nieces nephews, and other relatives. He touched the lives of many, as he continuously strived for excellence in his professional endeavors. With a humble heart, he embraced his community, and his selfless acts of kindness left an indelible mark on those who knew him. Edward's departure leaves a void that will be felt far and wide, but his legacy of strength and compassion will endure for generations to come. May his soul soar in eternal peace.
