Balasuriya, Edward Datusena "Eddie" Edward Datusena Balasuriya, age 76, was a loving son of the late Don Alphonsus Edward Balasuriya and the late Enid Alexandra Augusta Wijesekera, beloved husband of Ranjanee Balasuriya, loving brother of the late Emil Balasuriya, Rita Balasuriya, Rajah Balasuriya, Evan Balasuriya, Patricia Balasuriya, the late Dexter Balasuriya, the late Suriyakanthi Balasuriya, and Dilki Odens, devoted father to Malkanthi, Lilanthi and Dullip, loving grandfather to Sashane, Sachin, and Shaveen De Silva, Roshan and Chrishan Fernando, and friend to many. He died in Tempe Arizona on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 2:16 am. He passed away from a massive heart attack, surrounded by loved ones. He was born on December 2nd, 1940, in Maradana, Colombo, Sri Lanka. He was a former sales and transportation manager at Velona Industries, in Sri-Lanka, and a buyer for Barry's Appliances in Arizona. He was also an Educator at Suriya Montessori Education Center and was well loved by the children at the school. He will be remembered for his compassion for the poor and warm hospitality to those around him. His funeral service has been scheduled for Friday, March 17th at 7:00 pm with visitation starting at 5:00 pm. The funeral and visitation will be held at Tempe Mortuary located at 405 E. Southern Ave, Tempe Arizona, 85282.
