Edna Ruth (Williams) BrownFormerly of Abilene, TXEdna Ruth (Williams) Brown, 89, formerly of Abilene, TX, passed away in an Arlington, TX, care center on Thursday, November 10, 2016. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:00 AM in the fellowship hall of North Davis Church of Christ, 1601 North Davis Drive, Arlington, TX 76012, under the direction of Piersall Funeral Directors, 733 Butternut St., Abilene, TX. Viewing for family and friends will be at 9:30 AM. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 15, at University Church of Christ at 2:30 PM in Abilene, with burial at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery at Abilene.Edna was born on Christmas Day of 1926 to Hiram Howard Williams and Nona Ligon Williams in Burnet County, TX, near Hoover's Valley. In 1945, Edna attended Abilene Christian College where she earned a BA in Bible. On December 15, 1946, she married the love of her life Edward Marcus Brown in Abilene. They spent 5 years in Japan before returning to the US. She worked for a number of years as a staff psychologist for West Texas Rehab Center, but most of her time was spent caring for her four children. She was an active member of the W Club. She and Ed were long time active members of University Church of Christ where she spent many years serving as a nursery attendant. Surviving Edna is her husband Ed Brown; daughter Aleta Caraway; sons Marcus Brown and wife Carol, Byron Brown and wife Cindy, and Hiram Brown and wife Natasha; grandchildren Alycia Brown Pendleton and husband Scott, Titus Brown, Noah Brown and wife Heather, Rozanne Caraway DeLoach and husband Brandon, Caleb Caraway and wife Jennifer, Barret Brown and wife Tiffany, Luke Brown and wife Megan, Gabrielle Brown, Ryan Brown and wife Ashley, Elaine Brown, and Amber Brown Green and wife Katie; and eight great grandchildren with number nine due any moment. She is also survived by many other extended family members and close friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; sisters Ophelia Lynn, Vera Johnson Geer, and Lois Schwartz; and brothers Albert Williams and Loyd Williams.The family requests that donations be made in honor of Edna to the Williams-Ligon Brown Scholarship Fund at Abilene Christian University.
