Edith Hanson Valentine will be greatly missed. She passed away on November 2, 2016, just two days before her 95th birthday. She was born on November 4, 1921 in Arboga, California. She also lived in Marysville and Gridley. Her mother Louise W. Lund came from Norway in 1896 at the age of 16 and worked for a family in Seattle, Washington to pay for her passage to America. Her father Elof Hanson came from Sweden. They moved to Arboga and raised their children on a farm. Edith married the love of her life, J.T. Valentine, who died working in a mine in Arizona when their two children were still very young. She was a very strong and vibrant woman, as she had to be in order to provide for her children as a single mother. She worked as a waitress at the Vienna Inn, then the Bonanza Inn. She also worked for Red Carpet Real Estate. The last of 12 siblings, she was a kind and loving person with a heart of gold. She always provided for her family, if and when anyone needed anything. She loved her family unconditionally. She helped raise her grandson Brian L. Fisher. Edith was strong and healthy, and even at the age of 94, she still had a better memory than most people half her age. She leaves behind two children: James T. Valentine (Maria) and Kathleen L. Valentine; five grandchildren: Brian L. Fisher (Kelly), Tim Valentine, Jennifer Valentine, Sarah Valentine and Natalie Valentine; seven great-grandchildren: Shawna D. Easterling, Brian K. Fisher "Tank", Briana L. Fisher, Hannah Valentine, Sophia Valentine, Rickson Valentine and Edith Valentine; three great-great-grandchildren: Duncan Easterling, Jazlynn Easterling and Raidyn Doyle-Matlock. Edith will be laid to rest on Saturday, November 11, 2016 at Sierra View Memorial Park at 2:00 p.m.Send Condolences to www.appealdemocrat.com
