Ed A. ChancellorOctober 16, 1919 - June 21, 2016Ed A. Chancellor, 96, of Nampa, passed away peacefully in his home on June 21, 2016, with family by his side. Ed was born on October 16, 1919, in Boise, Idaho. His parents were E. Kilbourn and Ovanda Jane Chancellor. Ed grew up and attended schools in both Boise and Nampa. After graduation, he left home to live in California where he was drafted into the military and served stateside during World War II. After leaving the military, Ed became a "jack-of-all-trades". He helped build homes by working as both a plumber and electrician. He also worked on the building of both the Hoover and Anderson Ranch Dams. Ed met the love of his life, Florence Thrall, in Jerome, Idaho, at a café where Florence was working as a waitress. The two married in April of 1947. The couple had three daughters: Judy, Kay, and Nancy. The family eventually settled on South Powerline in Nampa where Ed and Florence built their life together. Ed began working as a lineman for Mountain Bell Telephone Company and eventually worked himself up through promotion into the Central Office. He worked for Mountain Bell for 37 years before he retired. During this time, Ed also ranched and farmed several acres. He was a quiet, hard working man who could rarely be found sitting around. In fact, Ed could be seen driving a tractor around the farm well into his late 80s. After retirement, Ed and Florence spent some time traveling around the United States and even enjoyed time in South East Asia.Ed was preceded in death by his parents and a great-granddaughter, Hannah Spriggs.Ed is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Florence; his three daughters, Judy McLaughlin (Clint), Kay Spriggs (Richard), and Nancy Smith (Gerald), all of the Treasure Valley; as well as 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Ed will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his strong work ethic, and his deep, unwavering integrity. A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 27, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel in Nampa. An online guest book is available at www.nampafuneralhome.com
