Durella (Dodi) Jager ShermanDurella (Dodi) Jager Sherman, 71, of Ellensburg, Washington passed away peacefully on Monday, October 20, 2014 at her friend's residence in Anacortes, Washington. She was born on March 9, 1943 in Seattle, Washington, the daughter of Vernon and Adeline (Baker) Hartley. Dodi worked hard all her life, managing Pharo's Pizza in Mount Vernon, Washington for several years, along with being "The Pizza Lady" at Papa Murphy's in Ellensburg for the past 6 years. Dodi was kind to everyone she met and she had a wicked sense of humor. Giraffes were her favorite animal and she had a large collection, including Dr. Joey who stayed with her until the very end. Her special place was the ocean and she loved driving around with the top down on her car. Dodi had a green thumb with plants and loved putting her hands in the earth. She liked to cook and made sure that you never left her home without a full belly. Dodi was an avid reader, played a mean game of Scrabble and also enjoyed playing the penny machines at the casino. Her two favorite foods were chocolate and coffee. Dodi loved shaking her presents at Christmas time, so the family had to put cans of vegetables and jam in the packages so she couldn't figure out what she was getting. But most of all, Dodi loved her children and grandchildren and was very proud of all of them. Dodi was preceded in death by her two brothers, two of her sisters and her parents. She is survived by her son, Andrew Jager; daughters and son-in-law, Rosie (Randy) Anderson and Marti Jager; grandchildren, Macauley, Brenna, Andrew, and Brendan Jager, Ashley (Bryn) O'Neil, Joey and Bailey Anderson; two sisters; her best friend and caretaker in the end, Sharon Button; and countless other amazing friends and family who loved her. There will be a Celebration of Life on Sunday, November 2nd at the Conway Sons of Norway Hall from 2pm to 5pm and also a Celebration of Life in Ellensburg on Saturday, November 8th at the Elmira Downtown Event Center at 5pm.
