Douglas R. Bruns, 55, of Waverly, passed away on Friday, Nov. 25, 2016, in rural Tripoli.Douglas Robert Bruns was born on Feb. 26, 1961, the son of Robert B. and Irva L. (Steere) Bruns in Waverly. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith on April 16, 1961, and confirmed on Oct. 31, 1976, both at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Doug graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School in Waverly on 1979. On May 11, 1991, he was united in marriage to Darcy Meyer in Waverly. Doug was employed at Northeast Machine and GMT as a tool maker. He also was a self-employed dog trainer.Survivors are his wife, Darcy Bruns, of Waverly; daughter, Emily Ann Bruns, of Mason City; son, Levi Bruns, of Waverly; his parents, Robert and Irva Bruns, of Waverly; two brothers, Jon (Deanne) Bruns, of Waverly, and Kent (Suzy) Bruns, of Dunkerton; his in-laws, Ervin and Mildred Meyer, of Aplington; and his five dogs. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, brothers-in-law, Harvey Meyer and Randall Meyer and sister-in-law, Karen Meyer.Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waverly, with the Rev. Arthur Bergren officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran cemetery in Waverly. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and also an hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
