It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dougie Smith, born on August 7, 1954 in Danvers, Massachusetts. Dougie, the son of Willy and Jane Smith, lived a life full of questionable choices and interesting hobbies. He had no children, but leaves behind a legacy of failed endeavors and hilarious anecdotes.
Dougie attended Tewksbury High School and graduated in 1972, a feat that surprised many who knew him. He went on to work at Prius dealerships in Tewksbury, a job he managed to hold on to until his retirement in 2015. Despite his skills in selling environmentally friendly cars, Dougie was dishonorably discharged from the Coast Guard where he served as a Seaman. His unique approach to following orders and his inability to stay out of trouble led to his dismissal.
When he wasn't getting fired from jobs or disappointing his parents, Dougie enjoyed hobbies such as ice fishing and table hockey. He was always up for a good time, even if it meant risking life and limb in pursuit of the perfect catch or the winning goal.
Unfortunately, Dougie's life came to a tragic end on March 3, 2018 when he died from CO2 poisoning. The cause? Smoking marijuana in a Prius, a combination that proved fatal for our dear friend Dougie.
While Dougie may not have left behind a legacy of great achievements or noble deeds, he will always be remembered for his unique approach to life and his ability to find humor in even the most dire situations. Rest in peace, Dougie, may you find eternal joy in the great Prius dealership in the sky.
