Dorothy R. TaggartDes Moines, IowaDorothy Ruth Taggart passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday December 14, 2016. She was born on June 17, 1929, in Ottumwa, Iowa. Dorothy Loved the outdoors, traveling and fishing with her husband, Gene. At home, she loved to sew. Dorothy dedicated much time to helping others, she was very social and active in her north side community. She worked at the voting polls for many years. The light of Dorthy's life was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy is survived by her sisters Cora Biggs, Mary Williams, Naoma Seaton, and Edith Rooker; daughters Joan Powell and Janet (Gary) Walters; grandchildren Jeremy (Heather) Shoning, Kristin Hyde, Kelly Walters, Kasey Walters, and Katie (Brad) Johnson and nine great-grandchildren. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents James and Mable Lane; husband Gene, sons Buddy and John; brothers John Lane and Kenneth Lane, sisters Augusta Fletcher, Louise Johnson, and Helen Granneman. A graveside service will take place at Pine Hill Cemetery, Saylor Township, at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, followed by lunch served by the AMVETS at 2818 5th Ave. Des Moines.
