Dorothy J. Writtenhouse, 80CARMEL - Dorothy J. Writtenhouse, 80, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis with her family by her side.Dorothy was born on August 24, 1936 in Cynthania, Kentucky to Tolson and Hazel (Fryman) Grant. She later attended Muncie Central High School and married Jack Writtenhouse on December 4, 1954 in Muncie. Together they would raise their family in Eaton. Dorothy resided in the Carmel area since 2007.Dorothy worked at several different places over the years. She most recently owned and operated Nu-Illusions in Eaton. Dorothy loved sports, mainly the Pacers and the Colts. She also enjoyed her jigsaw puzzles and going to bible study.She is survived by her children, Janena Janek (Gilbert), Toby Writtenhouse (Peggie), Kathy Leonard (Joe), and Curt Writtenhouse; two brothers, Walter Grant (Betty), Phillip Grant (Toy); five sisters, Nancy Logan, Phyllis Butler (John), Caroline Portillo, Becky Brady (Phillip), and Martha Grant; twelve grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Writtenhouse; a son, Linder Writtenhouse; two brothers, Lefty Grant and Raymond Grant and her sister, Linda Huber.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at the Pitman-Richman Funeral Home 200 S. Hartford St., with her brother, Pastor Phillip Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory, north of Muncie. Visitation for family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services Wednesday.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the 7272 Greenville Ave. Dallas, TX 75231.
