Dorothy Elizabeth Kranz (nee Cochran), age 93, died peacefully on November 29, 2016 in her home at Sun Terrace Assisted Living Community in Sunnyside, WA. Dorothy was born on April 20, 1923 in Monkton, MD to Julia and John Raymond Cochran. After graduating from Bel Air High School in 1940, she moved to Baltimore City and took her first job. On December 29, 1945 Dorothy married a young soldier named Charles Kranz from Yakima, WA. They married at St. John Catholic Church in Hydes, MD and soon relocated to the Yakima Valley where they raised ten children. She enjoyed gardening and travel. Her last trip was in June 2016 to Baltimore for a Cochran family reunion. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her siblings, and visiting with her extended family. There were approximately 300 relatives attending. She glowed in the attention given her as the matriarch. Dorothy is survived by her children: Regina Woloszyn (John) of Baltimore, MD; Theresa Lester (Thomas) of Boise ID; John Kranz (Janie Rodriquez) of Yakima WA; Daniel Kranz of Gleed WA; Irene Brandsma (Karst) of Everett WA; Eleanor Edwards (Chrys) of Minot, ND; Leon Kranz (Karen Cheek) of Newcastle WA; Mary Campbell (Curtis) of Grandview WA; Edward Kranz (Rose Perez) of Sunnyside WA. She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 54 great grandchildren, siblings Julia Neumann of Cincinnati OH, Francis, Charles and Stanley Cochran of Baltimore MD. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Kranz, son Thomas Kranz, siblings Mary Margaret, Clarence and John Cochran. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on December 5 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sunnyside, WA.
