Doris M. SmeltzerJanuary 18, 1934 - May 1, 2017DallastownDoris M. (Deavers) Smeltzer, 83, passed away peacefully at Manor Care, Dallastown on Monday, May 1. She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth O. Smeltzer, Sr. who passed away in 2007. Mrs. Smeltzer was born on January 18, 1934 in Rileyville, VA and was the daughter of the late Cletus O. and Emma R. (Kendell) Deavers.Doris worked for York Hospital and retired after 32 years of service. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Dallastown. In her spare time Doris enjoyed reading, working in her yard, tending her tomato plants and watching old movies. She is survived by her only son, Kenneth O. Smeltzer, Jr. of Dallastown; sister, Helen Thompson of Fort Royal, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Deavers of Rileyville, VA; and a sister, Deanna Hudson of New Market, VA. A service to honor Doris's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 5 at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown, with the Rev. Lawrence A. Cunnings officiating. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Friday and will begin at 10 a.m. until the start of the service.
