Macias, Doris Jean Doris Jean Macias, 87, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2017 in Mesa, AZ. She was born on November 30, 1929 to Harold and Hazel (Strom) Schaffer in Red Wing, MN. She was married to Manuel E. "Lotto" Macias on May 21, 1952, who preceded her in death in 1973. She is survived by her four daughters, Jeanne Macias-Bowen (Jimmy), Anita Macias-Howard (Charles), Lupe Severson (Roger), and Mary Macias-Lux (Brian); grandchildren, Alicia Severson, Neil Severson, and Theresa Macias-LaPosa; great-grandson, Aidan Macias-LaPosa; and brothers, Thomas Schaffer (Donna) and Wallace James Schaffer. Doris was a caregiver at heart and, in 1986 after 35 years as a registered nurse, she moved from Mound, MN to Arizona to take care of her father. She was a woman of strong faith and spent countless hours volunteering at her church. She especially enjoyed singing in her church choir. She was a strong and independent woman who had a passion for traveling, both at home and abroad. She loved driving and logged over 128,000 miles on solo road trips throughout the U.S. Her warmth, quick smile, generous spirit, and beautiful sense of humor will be greatly missed. Services will be held at 10:00 am, Friday June 30, 2017, at Church of the Resurrection, 3201 S. Evergreen Road, Tempe, AZ. Luncheon following. At a later date, another service will be held in Mound, MN at Our Lady of the Lake Parish where she will be interred.
