Doris HOLTZMANN Obituary

from ontario, Saskatchewan, Canada

DORIS JEAN HOLTZMANNIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Doris on Monday, July 3, 2017 at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her parents Douglas and Margaret Wilson; brothers Douglas "Bud" (Audrey) and Fred (June); brothers-in-law Bernard (Hazel) Armbruster, Ron Jeffers and Lorne (Ruth) Holtzmann; as well as the father of her children, Wilfred Holtzmann. Doris will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Jeanne (Gerald) Huber of Lipton, SK; her son Donald (Patricia) Holtzmann of Houston, TX; grandchildren Jeff and Catherine Huber, and Allan and Roberta Holtzmann; and great-grandchildren, Jada, Jasmyn, Xavier and Isaiah Webb. Doris was born on June 8, 1924 in Regina, SK and lived her early childhood years there. She attended Kitchener, Belfour Tech. and Scott Collegiate schools. She lived in Fort William, ON and worked at Canada Car & Foundry. While in Ontario she married Wilfred Holtzmann in 1944 and a few years later they returned to live in Saskatchewan. Doris loved to be involved with her children whether it was helping with figure skating lessons and getting ready for the ice carnival, or working at school track and field days, or just being the cheering section at her children's hockey and ball games. Doris worked and took classes at Prairie Christian Training Centre and then worked and helped at her place of worship, the United Church in Lipton. Doris worked outside the home for a number of years, a receptionist in a doctor's office, the office manager at Sears, and a clerk in a hotel. Doris' greatest joy was in her family, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She made numerous trips to Houston to visit with her son and his family. In lieu of flowers, friends so wish, may make donations to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, 4101 Dewdney Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 1A5. A Memorial Service will be held at Lee Funeral Home, 3101 Dewdney Avenue Regina, SK on Friday, July 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jo Mader officiating.
