Doris Faye Dalcour, age 82, of Houston, Texas passed away on Saturday, March 8, 2025 

Doris Faye Dalcour was first and foremost a Child of God. 

She was born to her earthly parents, Reverend Caston Lee Boyd and Tommie Victoria Smith Boyd on September 20, 1942 in Houston Tx. Doris was one of seven children: Caston Jr, James, Edward, John, Mary, Celestine. As a ministerial family in the African Methodist Episcopal Church, the Boyds moved about the state of Texas, as “Poppa Boyd” pastored many congregations. Upon the 1944 death of his wife Tommie, this devoted father made sure the bishop and elders knew that if they were going to move him, the new congregation needed to be made aware that he was coming with seven children in tow – because the Boyds stick together. 

Doris's passion for education was evident from a young age. A brilliant student, she aspired to become a teacher and pursued her dream by attending Paul Quinn College. Upon graduation, she eagerly accepted her first teaching position at a small school in Cameron, Texas. While in her first teaching job, she met Dalton Joseph Dalcour, a charming gentleman from Louisiana. They were married on December 27, 1969, and for 55 years, Dalton remained her devoted companion, sharing life's joys and sorrows.

Throughout her illustrious career as a math teacher, Doris impacted countless students with her hearty laughter and open heart. Her dedication earned her many tokens of appreciation from adoring students, up until her retirement from Albert Thomas Middle School. Although some might have expected her to leave her passions behind, Doris surprised everyone by discovering a newfound love - art. Her creations adorn the walls of family members and friends, serving as living testaments to her talent. Many of us cherish more than one "Doris F Dalcour" original in our homes. As a tribute, we encourage everyone to share pictures of her masterpieces on this website. 

Doris leaves behind her loving husband, Dalton Dalcour, and her adoring brother, James Boyd. She will be deeply missed by scores of nieces, nephews, friends, and her fellow church members at South Wesley AME Church. Though she has gone to be with her Heavenly Father, we will forever hold her memory in our hearts.
