Briggs, Dora MarieAge 76, of Gillett, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, June 12, 2017 with loved ones at her side. She was born on July 4th, 1940 in Sayre, PA to the late Alta (Halsey) Wolfe and Robert Fitzwater. She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert and Elwin Fitzwater. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Arlan F. Briggs; her children: Becky Bailey of Elmira, NY, Ray (Kim) Bailey of Pine City, NY, Sara (Andy) Seymour of Elmira, NY, Mark (Deanna) Briggs of Gillett, PA, Lori (Don) Deery of Millerton, PA, and Dustin Briggs of Waynesburg, PA; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and sisters: Neva Granger of Elmira, NY and Anna Benson of Gillett, PA. Dora loved family gatherings and being surrounded by her loved ones. She was also an avid reader, having read 2,027 books since 2006. During her life she worked several places, but most loved working in food service. Having a certificate in Hotel Restaurant Management, she ran a small food cart as well as worked several years as a waitress, then cook, at Anne's Pancakes on Route 17. Family and friends are invited to share in her Memorial Service at the Fassett Baptist Church, Route 14 South, Fassett, PA on Saturday, July 8, 2017 beginning at 12:00 (noon).The family wishes that any donations be made on their Mom's behalf to the Guthrie Hospice at 421 Tomahawk Road, Towanda, PA 18848.
