A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Dora Mae Ross will be held at 11 AM, Monday, January 5, 2026, at West Union Missionary Baptist Church, where she held membership. She peacefully passed away on December 29, 2025. A 1968 graduate of Jamestown Senior High School, and an alumna of Bethune-Cookman University, Mrs. Ross was a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc, NAACP, and National Council of Negro Women. She was an administrator employed by the State of Virginia until retiring after 35 years of dedicated service. Her parents Mr. Leroy Kelly and Mrs. Isabelle Atkinson Kelly preceded her in death. Survivors include her husband, Nathanial Ross, daughter, Ashley Powell; son, Ashton Powell; Brother Frederick Ross; grandchildren, Erica Anders, Regina Ford, Samantha Powell, Sampson Powell; and a number of other relatives and friends. The visitation for Mrs. Ross will be held at the mortuary on Saturday, January 3, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Intermittent will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery. DUE TO COVID-19 AND IN ADHERENCE TO THE CDC MANDATE, ALL ATTENDEES ARE ASKED TO PLEASE WEAR A MASK. Friends are asked to assemble at the church under the direction of Braden East Mortuary.
