Donovan Cook, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on August 3, 2025, in Columbia, South Carolina at the age of 65. He was born on May 5, 1960, to his parents Robert Cright and Eartha Lee Cook.

Donovan is survived by his loving children, Jamel Cook and Tasha Talavera. He was also a proud grandfather to two grandchildren. We won't mention their names because Donovan would have wanted to keep them out of the spotlight.

Donovan was a graduate of Brooklyn PS 13 High School, class of '79. He went on to have a successful career as a painter, retiring in 2023.

Donovan will always be remembered for his quick wit, infectious laugh, and love for practical jokes. He had a way of making everyone around him smile, even during the toughest of times.

While Donovan's battle with cancer was no laughing matter, he faced it with courage and humor until the very end. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering strength.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Donovan's memory.
