Marshall, Donna L.Donna L. Marshall, age 87, of Manitowoc, passed away Sunday, October 16, 2016 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center of Manitowoc County. Donna was born on May 20, 1929 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Mel and Grace (Jonas) Kitzerow. She attended Manitowoc Pubic Schools loving tennis and sports, graduating with honors from Manitowoc Lincoln High School in 1947. Donna was employed as a secretary to Rufin Boyd and Ed Anderson at Manitowoc Lincoln High School from 1947 to 1949. She attended UW Lacrosse, transferring to UW Oshkosh, serving as president of Radford Hall, was a member of Alathean Sorority, was elected to 'Who's Who' in American Colleges and Universities and initiated into Kappa Delta Pi National Honor Society. Donna graduated from UW Oshkosh in 1953 with a degree in elementary education.On December 27, 1952, Donna married Gerard Marshall, the love of her life, a man who loved teaching for 35 years at Woodrow Wilson Junior High School. He preceded her in death on March 5, 2013 after 60 years of marriage. Donna was a substitute teacher in Manitowoc Public Schools for seventeen years and then worked in the reading program for twenty-two years at Cleveland and Jefferson elementary schools. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, a Sunday School teacher, and sung in the choir for many years where her father was organist and choir director. Donna loved classical and easy listening music, tennis, friends and the outdoors. She loved wearing lipstick and passed that passion down to her two daughters.Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law: Wendy Sullivan, Green Bay; Julie (Jim) Oswald, Fairfield Glade, TN; five wonderful grandchildren: Jordan (Katie) Sullivan, Green Bay; Tyler ( Amy) Sullivan, Pewaukee; Adam (Brittany) Sullivan, Minnetonka, MN; Lauren (Dan) Daitchman, Chicago, IL; Taylor (Rachel) Oswald, Charlotte, NC; six precious great-grandchildren: Gavin, Brendan and Asher Sullivan, Green Bay; Audrick and Avenley Sullivan, Pewaukee; Clara Daitchman, Chicago, IL; and one great-grandson due at Christmas; one special sister: Barbara (Bill) Goehring, Omaha NE, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at First Lutheran Church, 521 North 8th Street, Manitowoc. The Rev. Roald Harswick will officiate with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial can be made to the First Lutheran Organ Fund. The Jens Family Funeral Home & Crematory of Manitowoc is assisting the family with funeral arrangements. Her grandchildren will always remember her playing with them for hours in the playhouse and with their Grandpa in the parks of Manitowoc.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the New Horizon staff at the Manitowoc Health Care Center for their caring concern for the past 4 years along with the critical care staff at Holy Family Hospital.
