Mr. Donald Ray "Donnie" Miller of Glendale Springs died on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, at his residence. He was 61.

Mr. Miller was born on Feb. 24, 1952, in Ashe County, to Gaither and Florence Mash Miller.

Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his father; daughter, Brandy Suzette Miller; and sister, Linda Moretz.

Mr. Miller was an avid hunter and worked for almost 20 years at Piedmont Wood Products in Taylorsville. He served his community for 33 years in the Glendale Springs Volunteer Fire Department where he had held the position of Assistant Chief. Donnie was a loving son, husband, father, brother and friend.

Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Rose Marie Dillard Miller; daughter, Marti Miller and fiancée Thomas Ring of Jefferson; his mother, Florence Miller of Glendale Springs; brother, Ronnie Miller and wife Sally of Moravian Falls; two sisters, Brenda Roten and husband Ricky and Pam Potter and husband Kerry, all of Glendale Springs; and several nieces; nephews; great nieces; and one great nephew.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at the Calvary Freewill Baptist Church by Rev. Russell Sheets and Pastor Sonny Thomas. Burial will follow in Claude Mash Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church.
