Donald Houston "Buddy" Smith, age 61, formally of Morehead-City NC passed away peacefully due to health complications on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home.  Known by many as "Buddy", he was a friend to many. Buddy was born October 15, 1957, in Honolulu, Hawaii and grew up in Moorhead-City, NC throughout the majority of his life.  He worked as a commercial fisherman and later a carpenter for over 40 years.

He is survived by his loving spouse Ginger Childress; daughter and son in law Christine and Doug Guthrie,daughter and son in law Kaycee and Stephen Gray-Meadows, son Bryan Smith, and son and daughter in law Seanand Cheryl Smith; his sister and brother in law Vonne and David Lankford; fondly remembered by his many grandchildren Parker, Evan, Stephen, Kayson, Kinsley, Cole, Harper and Shawn. Dear friend to many and loved by numerous nieces and nephews. Forever in our hearts.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jan and Janet Smith, his brother Bill Smith and sister Belinda Smith and sister Edna Lynn Smith.

A memorial service will be held in his honor, Saturday, Feb 23, at King Christian Center, Diane Cuneo will officiate. Friends and family are welcome to attend between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.  A reception will follow for the immediate family concluding the memorial service.
