Floyds KnobsMattson, Donald E.,85, of Floyds Knobs, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. He was a United States Navy veteran and retired from South Central Bell. Don was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers. He enjoyed reading, listening to music, as well as gardening. He was born on May 27, 1932 in Henryville, Indiana to the late Elmer and Helen (Dieterlen) Mattson. Don is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Nancy (Elrod) Mattson; children, Alan Mattson, Sally Garrett (Cliff), Nelle Maser (Greg), Karen Elliott (Zane), Luanne Mattson; brothers, Robert Mattson, Ronald Mattson (Elizabeth); 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Cremation was chosen following Don's wishes. A reception of family and friends will be from 12 PM to 4 PM on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany) with his Memorial Service taking place at 4 PM. Don will be laid to rest privately with military honors at Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park.
